Angela Nichols, RN
Tell us about your own journey and how your experiences have changed the way you look at motherhood and parenting.
My passion in nursing is educating new parents through all stages of pregnancy, labor, and after birth. I have worked at big hospitals, small hospitals, and certified nurse midwife clinics. I have experienced many of the complications of pregnancy, labor and postpartum myself and can empathize with moms.
Tell us a little about your nursing career.
I started working as a midwife assistant in nursing school. I officially started my nursing career in labor and delivery at a small hospital. I expanded my career by moving to a big hospital and adding high risk antepartum, mother baby, and gynecology to my labor and delivery experience. I work at a small hospital again in mother baby. I'm preparing to get certified by IBCLC to be a lactation consultant.
What are the two most important lessons you've learned working with moms, babies, and families?
Every family's experience is different. Helping families make educated choices for themselves is the biggest part of fulfilling my role as a nurse.
If you had one bit of advice to give to a new parent, what would it be?
Relax and go with the flow. Let go of your expectations and just enjoy it all.
Self-care is a big challenge for parents. How do you maintain your own energy and outlook?
I take time for myself every day. I start my day with a cup of coffee in a quiet place. It's ok to say no to outside requests that would be stressful for me or that I'm not interested in.
Is there anything we've missed that you'd like to share with Mama Coach clients?
I can't wait to help guide you through your motherhood journey!
