My journey as a Mama Coach
“Among the immense love, awe and adoration we all have for our new babies, there is often a sense of fear, concern, anxiety and pressure to do everything right- I want to support you while you find your way through motherhood..”
Hi! My name is Ashley and I am a Registered Nurse, Sleep Coach and Lactation Counselor. Most importantly, I’m a Mama to my two beautiful children. For as long as I can remember I knew I wanted to be a Mom, there was never any doubt about that. As I grew older and entered high school becoming a nurse was something I began to consider. Becoming a nurse was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and I have never looked back! I started my career in Cold Lake where I’ve been working as a RN for over 11 years. I have the privilege of working with a variety of patients throughout the lifespan, from newborns to laboring Mama’s to the elderly. Being a nurse has become part of my identity, it’s who I am, it’s what I’m passionate about and I can’t imagine doing anything else.
My husband and I had a long journey before we arrived at parenthood but I felt so ready and prepared in the days leading up to our daughter’s arrival. I was a nurse, I had years of experience caring for newborns and I was the one teaching new parents how to care for their babies before they went home. Surely, we’d be fine! Once we went home and reality set in I appreciated how valid the concern and worry new parents have really was. The lack of sleep was harder than I expected. Some mornings I felt like a complete zombie! I also had endless questions! Was she eating enough, was she eating too much, was her poop normal, how long should she be napping, the list was never-ending!
Just when we thought we had the baby thing figured out, she grew into a toddler and our adorable son was born. Of course, his sleeping and eating habits were different than hers, leading to further questions. Whether it’s your first baby or third, they are all wonderfully unique and can challenge you in different ways. In my years as an RN caring for post-partum Mamas and Daddies, I’ve always felt there was so much information to share with my patients but so little time!
Among the immense love, awe and adoration we all have for our new babies, there is often a sense of fear, concern, anxiety and pressure to do everything right. After a night or two, you’re discharged and on your way home with this beautiful baby, a million questions and no instruction manual! These are the reasons I am so excited to bring Mama Coach to the Cold Lake and Bonnyville area. I want to help families with the big issues like sleep and feeding so they can enjoy the precious little moments as a growing family. Whether I assist by teaching a personalized prenatal class, supporting your method of feeding or helping you get a little more sleep, I’m thrilled to be here for you as you begin the most fulfilling, rewarding journey of your life.
