Hi! I’m Sam and I am a Mama Coach in Calgary, Alberta. I am a born and raised Calgarian and I am very excited to be able to support moms in the Calgary area. I live with my husband, and two kids who are 4 and almost 2.
My calling to be a Registered Nurse
I went in to nursing school directly from high school because I knew my calling to be a Registered Nurse.
I wanted to help people, I loved the science behind medicine, and I knew that the role would have a lot of opportunity. Simply put, I woke up one morning and realized that there was no other place in this world for me than being a nurse.
I studied at University of Alberta and graduated in 2008. My first job was in pediatric oncology and I immediately knew this was where I needed to learn and grow. Over the next nine years I jumped around to various different positions within the pediatric population so I could gain experience in other areas, but oncology is always where I called home. I have experience with pediatric intensive care, neonatal intensive care, and adult urgent care, all of which have shaped and transformed who I have become as a nurse and a mom.

I had my first daughter, Charlotte, in 2013. My pregnancies were never straight forward and I was on bedrest for 4 weeks with her. She was born at term after a traumatic labour and delivery, but she was perfect. All 7 lbs, 4 ounces of her. Just perfect. I was anxious after her birth but no one ever really described what postpartum depression or anxiety was, and I was not aware that a traumatic birth can lead to postpartum anxiety. Charlotte and I made it through and eventually I was ready to complete our family with another baby.
My journey to becoming a Mama Coach
My journey to becoming a Mama Coach started after the birth of my second baby, Weston, in 2015. I was living on baby smiles and coffee and getting less than 2 hours of sleep a night because I also had a toddler. Add in postpartum anxiety and depression in to the mix and I found myself desperately searching for the right fit for a sleep coach. I was looking for someone who would understand how tired I was, how much support I needed, and someone who could give me the confidence I needed to help my baby sleep.
My goal for being a Mama Coach is that no one feels alone or scared in their parenting journey. I want to use my knowledge and skills as a Registered Nurse to empower women to be the fantastic moms they are.
“I believe that it truly takes a village to raise your little loves, and I want to be a part of your village.”
